We break color into two categories on our menu: Custom Color and Express Color. 

Custom Color is for balayage, highlights, dimensional color, vivids, color blocks, and transformations. Instead of building your appointment from a long list of individual services and add-ons, you simply book time with your stylist. Your session includes whatever we need to create your result - including glosses, treatments like K18, extra bowls of color or lightener, and any combination of techniques we use along the way. 

This is priced hourly, and you only pay for the time we actually use. Before we begin, we'll talk through the plan, how long we expect it to take, and what you can expect your total to be. 

Express Color is our à la carte option for straightforward maintenance. Root Retouch is specifically for solid, all over grey coverage. A Gloss can be booked on its own or added to your Root Retouch. This does not include highlights, blonding, dimensional color, lightening, etc. - those all fall under Custom Color. 

With Custom Color, your time is the price. 

We'll recommend a session length based on your starting point and goals, and give you an estimated total before we begin. If we finish sooner, you only pay for the time we actually use. 

No need to figure out salon terminology or decide which techniques to book - that’s our job. Your job is to sit back, relax, and let us create great hair color for you.

New clients looking for Custom Color should book a Complimentary Consultation. At that appointment, we'll talk about your goals and maintenance preferences, review your color history, give you a realistic plan and price estimate, and get your color session booked. 

For ease of booking, we have three default options for Custom Color: 

Mini Session (2 hours): for focused color work in a specific area - some face framing highlights, a color block, strategically placed pops of brightness or dimension, or a targeted refresh. 

Partial Session (3 hours): for color work through part of the head rather than all over. Great for dimensional blonding or brunette work, balayage or highlights concentrated where they will have the most impact, creative placement, or a more involved refresh. 

Full Session (4 hours): for color work throughout the whole head or a more time-intensive change - full blonding, major transformations, all-over dimensional changes, vivids, corrective work, or anything that requires a bigger canvas.

Nope! Chartreuse is gratuity-free. No mental math, no awkwardness. The price is the price.  

We're located in Suite 205 in US Salon Studios at 505 Atwood Ave, Cranston, RI. 

If you're looking at the front of the building, use the entrance on the lefthand side. When you walk in, we are the 3rd door on the left!

Park anywhere in the lot out front! If it is full, additional street parking is available on Luigi Street.

Clean and dry is best! You don't need to wash your hair the morning of your appointment, but excess oil, dry shampoo, and product buildup can get in the way of color and make it harder for us to see your hair in its natural state, which is important when planning out a cut. 

Come as you are on a normal hair day, and we'll take it from there! 

Absolutely! Inspo photos help us understand what you're drawn to - and photos of what you don't like can be just as helpful. We'll talk through any and all inspo photos and how we can translate them to your hair, starting point, maintenance preferences, and lifestyle. 

That's okay! You don't need to know salon terminology or show up with a perfectly formed plan. Tell us what you like, what you don't, how you normally wear your hair, and how much maintenance you're up for. Figuring out the rest is our job. 

We do! Feel free to bring your laptop, answer emails, and get some work done while your color processes.

Small on purpose! Chartreuse is an intimate, two stylist studio. We wanted to create something that feels personal, relaxed, and a little more private than a traditional salon - without losing the fun of getting your hair done. 

We are a deskless studio, which means we don't have a traditional reception desk or answering service. Please contact us via our contact form or email. We monitor both regularly throughout the day Tuesday through Saturday.   

Absolutely. Chartreuse is a safe space for all. We want you to feel comfortable showing up exactly as you are - whatever your gender, sexuality, age, or hair texture.

We’re proudly registered with Strands for Trans, reflecting our commitment to creating an inclusive and affirming salon experience. Our pricing for all services is gender-neutral.
